Summer Reading

Each summer, all ages are invited to participate in the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program! We invite you to read, create, and celebrate each summer at the library!

How to Participate

Kids ages 12 and under can pick up a book bag, a free book*, and a reading log at the library.

*while supplies last.

Chintimini Music
June 21, 10:30 a.m. & 4:00 p.m., Main Meeting Room

Family music concert features The Emperor and the Nightingale performed by Chintimini Music Festival musicians.

Teddy Bear Picnic
June 22, 10:00 a.m., Central Park*
Bring a stuffed animal to Central Park and sing and dance to music from Red Yarn. Take a picture with Clifford the Big Red Dog!
*in the event of inclement weather, the Teddy Bear Picnic will be held in the Main Meeting Room of the Corvallis Library.

Bookin’ It Fun Run
June 24, 10:00 a.m., Corvallis Riverfront Commemorative Park
Free 1 mile and 5K Fun Run for families starts along the Corvallis Riverfront trail. Pre-registration encouraged. More details coming soon!

Magic Mama Concert
June 28, 1:30 p.m., Main Meeting Room
An eco-edu-tainer performing organic rhymes and world rhythms using eclectic and non-traditional instruments.

Book Scavenger Book Event
July 5, 1:30 p.m., Main Meeting Room
Book discussion, scavenger hunt, and decorate your own book bag to keep! A limited number of copies of Book Scavenger by Jennifer Chambliss Bertman will be available at the Youth Reference Desk. Find more copies hidden throughout our community at! (coming soon!)

OMSI – React-O-Blast!

Conduct experiments that vividly demonstrate reactions of matter, including some that have explosive results!

Science Saturday

Storytime and hands-on science activities for preschool children (ages 2-5) and their families.

Build It: Tiny Homes for Tiny Friends

Build your own fairy house, nature house, or birdhouse! Supplies provided.

Rich Glauber Concert

Family Day at Benton County Historical Society Museum

Around the World from 80 Countries at the Benton County Museum, 1101 Main St. in Philomath, Oregon. Activities for the whole family! Bookmobile onsite.

Chintimini Raptors
July 26, 1:30 p.m., Main Meeting Room
Meet Oregon’s amazing birds of prey and learn about their lives with this presentation by Chintimini Wildlife Center’s Rapture Education Program.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in August, 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Brookes Reading Room
Bring your favorite book to read to a trained Reading Education Assistance Dog. Ages 4-10.

Summer at Your Library Pool Party!
August 5, 5:00-7:00 p.m., Otter Beach at Osborn Aquatic Center
Make a splash at Osborn Aquatic Center. Open to all Summer at Your Library participants and their families.

All entries will be displayed in the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library Main Meeting Room during the month of June, including a reception on June 15th for all student writers and the people they honored.
