Ongoing Events for Teens

All teen events are offered at no cost for teens in middle and high school (6th-12th grade), unless otherwise noted. Please note dates, times, and locations below, or on the Library Events Calendar.

Teen Summer Reading

Teens in or entering middle and high school can enter to win great prizes by reading and listening over the summer, as well as attending teen library events. Get a free book, book bag, reading log, and schedule of summer events when summer reading 2018 begins on June 9. Get more details about events and materials here!

Makers Club

Makers Club is on a summer break, and will return this fall!

Teen Advisors – Society for the Prevention of Boredom in Teens

This is a teen leadership group that advises staff about library spaces, events, and materials for teens. Teens may apply to join by completing a Teen Advisor Membership Application. Applications are also available at the library in the teen area and at the Youth Services desk. The Society meets in the Storytime Room at the library on the 3rd Fridays of the month from 4:30-6pm, then stays to help set up for the Teen Takeovers on those nights.

Teen Code Club

Teen Code Club is on summer break! More info will be available after summer.

Teen First Friday: Unplugged

Join us for an unplugged afternoon of board games and visits with therapy dogs on the first Friday of each month from 4-6pm. Materials are provided; events are FREE.

Teen Takeover!

play games. watch movies. make art.

Teen Takeover! is an after-hours hangout for teens on the 3rd Friday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm. Find us in the Main Meeting Room playing Xbox One, Wii U, PS4, and tabletop/board games, making art, and watching movies during the school year. Materials, consoles and games, and snacks provided. This is an after-hours event! Enter the library through the Monroe Ave doors.

2018 Teen Takeovers!
Friday July 20, 6:45pm-12am – Teen Midnight Lock-In! Featuring henna tattoos, canjo workshop, movie marathons, art projects, games,  and more!
Friday August 17, 6:30-8:30pm – Watch Into the Woods (PG), play games, + make Sharpie tie-dyed zipper pouches!

*** For Nerf Games events, unmodded Nerf equipment is permitted; no Rivals blasters, please. Signed 2018 permission form required; forms available at the library and at the event. Some Nerf equipment provided, as well as darts and snacks. No registration required. Nerf Games return in July!

Teen Winter Break Reading Challenge

Teens in middle and high school can complete our winter break reading challenge for a chance to win gift certificates to local businesses. Our 2017-2018 Winter Break Reading Challenge has concluded and winner contacted. Check back in December 2018 for next year’s challenge!
