Public Seed Library Now Open!

The Public Seed Library is a new collaborative project between the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition and the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library. The free volunteer-supported Public Seed Library is available to everyone who visits the Corvallis Public Library, for their personal use, regardless of whether they have a library card. The program is intended to support both new and experienced home gardeners.

Requesting Donations of Commercial Seed Packets:

The Public Seed Library is stocked exclusively with donated vegetable, herb, and flower commercial seed packets. The rack is restocked as donations are received from businesses and individuals. If you are a home gardener who has seeds left after planting, in new or partially used commercial seed packets that are packed for the current or prior year, please consider donating them! Donations from the general public will be collected at the Corvallis Public Library circulation desk downtown at 645 NW Monroe Ave.

This is a seed-sharing library to share sustenance: Give what you can, and receive seeds and garden knowledge on how to plan a garden, grow vegetables, and companion herbs and flowers too for pollinators and other beneficial insects.

Volunteering Opportunity:

If you’re an individual interested in volunteering, or a company interested in making a tax-deductible donation of commercial seed packets, reach out to connect by emailing corvallispublicseedlibrary@gmail.com

Where is the seed library located?

Seeds and vegetable garden educational resources are available in the Belluschi Wing of the Corvallis Public Library at 645 NW Monroe Avenue in Corvallis. The Belluschi Wing is the oldest part of the library, where the windows look out to Monroe Avenue.

Is there anything else I’ll want to know about the new seed library?

Local gardening experts including the Linn-Benton Master Gardeners will offer vegetable garden planning and growing lectures at the Corvallis Public Library. The Benton County Master Gardeners will also offer occasional Vegetable Garden Plant Clinic events at the Corvallis Public Library.

Disclaimer:

There is no guarantee that seeds from the Public Seed Library will grow or that the plants will be what is listed on the seed packet label.
