Changes are coming to our digital library of ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines. As of March 18, we will end access to CloudLibrary while investing in an improved experience with Libby. In fact, you may have already noticed a wider variety of titles and shorter wait times for popular titles through Libby!

This was not an easy decision, but we believe it will result in a better digital collection, using a more popular and functional platform. You can read more about our reasoning and view the timeline for upcoming changes below.

This means you will no longer be able to place new holds or submit purchase requests through CloudLibrary. Existing holds will stay on your account until March 18, 2026, when all access to CloudLibrary will end.

If you are not yet using eBooks or audiobooks on Libby, we encourage you to check it out via the Libby website or download the app for iPhone, Android or search for Libby in the app store on your Kindle Fire. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

Holds

Purchase requests

  • You can re-create your requests in Libby. If you cannot find the book with a Libby search click on Deep Search at the bottom of your results. This searches through all the books available to purchase. If you put a Notify Me tag on it, it counts as a vote to purchase that title and if we do purchase it you will be notified. Here are instructions for suggesting books in Libby. Contact us if you need help.

Saved titles and reading history

  • If you want to keep your saved titles or your reading history you must copy them. To put them in a Libby list, create a new tag for the list name then add that tag to each book in Libby. Here are instructions for using tags in Libby. Contact us if you need help.
How do I get started with Libby?

Why can I only have six holds in Libby?

      • Some titles in our Libby collection are shared between Oregon libraries. Libby requires us to have the same hold limit as the other libraries in order to take advantage of this shared collection. To keep track of interesting books you can tag them. Here are instructions for using tags in Libby.

Why are the hold lines in Libby so long?

      • The short wait times in CloudLibrary come from spending most of our digital books budget there. You will soon see shorter wait times in Libby as we transfer our collection and spending.
      • Wait times are usually shorter than they look because the estimated time is calculated as if all the copies are shared between Oregon libraries. In many cases some copies are only for Corvallis-Benton County Public Library users.
      • In-person classes at our Corvallis location on February 23 and March 19. No sign-up required.
      • One-on-one help at our Corvallis location on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 3-4 pm. First-come-first-served.
      • One-on-one help by appointment at our branch locations. Call your branch library to request a time.
